Flood Restoration Works – April 24 Event – Waterway Barrier Works – Area 4 – Arcot Road

⁠⁠⁠Flood restoration works for the Goondiwindi Regional Council are managed by Proterra Group.

The contract will be awarded to the Principal Contractor who will accept all responsibility for Safety, Quality, Traffic and Environmental control.

Work includes work in Fishways as defined by DETSI.

Restoration of riverbed pre-erosion profile.

Scour protection of riverbank.

Construction of RC apron and pier jacket.

Scope:

Rock Protection 

Riverbed:

The Contractor shall undertake preparation of the work area, including removal of loose material and surface trimming where required. Displaced rock within the work area shall be recovered and re-used where suitable and approved by the Superintendent. Bulk rock shall be supplied and placed to form the Place the rock to form a strong, stable layer with adequate interlocking.

Embankment:

The Contractor shall prepare the embankment by clearing and trimming the embankment to the extents shown in the drawings. Any displaced rock and suitable fill within the area shall be collected and re-used where suitable. Bulk rock shall then be placed on the embankment to the required scour protection layer in accordance with the design levels and extents shown on the drawings. Placement shall be carried out in a controlled manner to ensure stability and proper interlocking of the rock.

Concrete Kerb

The Contractor shall saw cut and remove the existing kerb on the bridge to neat, straight lines. Care shall be taken to ensure that the adjacent deck, reinforcement, and surrounding elements are not damaged during removal. All waste material shall be removed and disposed of off-site in accordance with environmental requirements. Clean and treat any exposed reinforcement as required. Construct the new kerb to match the existing profile, ensuring correct alignment, level, and finish. Upon completion, all work areas shall be cleaned and reinstated to match existing conditions.

Reinforced Concrete Apron

The downstream concrete apron shall be demolished and reconstructed in accordance with TMR SD1304 and the IFC Drawings. The Contractor shall saw cut, breakup and remove the existing apron to neat, straight lines. All accumulated debris and waste shall be removed and disposed of off-site in accordance with environmental requirements. The foundation shall be formed to the required level, trimmed, and compacted to provide a firm and stable base. Any unsuitable material shall be removed and replaced with approved fill compacted in layers to meet MRTS04 requirements. The new concrete apron shall be constructed to match the specified dimensions, levels, and alignment, using compliant concrete and reinforcement as per IFC Drawings and TMR standards. All concrete shall be properly placed, finished, and cured. Upon completion, disturbed areas shall be reinstated to match the existing conditions, ensuring proper drainage and erosion protection.

Reinforced Concrete Jacket

The existing pier surface shall be cleaned and lightly scabbled to ensure adequate bonding. Reinforcement, including vertical bars, mesh, and ties, shall be installed in accordance with the repair detail as shown in the IFC Drawings. Concrete shall then be placed around the pier, properly compacted, finished, and cured. Upon completion, all work areas shall be cleaned and reinstated to match existing conditions.

Wingwall Repair

Concrete surfaces on the wingwall and abutment shall be cleaned and prepared to ensure proper contact. The steel plates shall be bent centrally to match neatly with the deformed wingwall. Chemset anchors shall be installed in accordance with product specifications and the IFC Drawings. Anchors shall be adequately tightened to ensure a firm and continuous restraint.
