Pre-employment and Fit For Purpose Medical Assessments

⁠⁠⁠In accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 Council has a duty of care to ensure that workers engaged by Council are not put at risk from work carried out as part of their role with the organisation. This duty of care also extends to other workers and members of the public who engage in services conducted by Council.

To meet this obligation, Council requires all newly engaged employees to undertake a pre-employment fit for purpose medical assessment to ensure that they are medically fit to undertake the full requirements of their position with Council. Further, from time to time, it is also necessary for Council to seek professional assessments on the medical fitness of existing workers to undertake the full range of duties in their position with the organisation. This assessment may include independent specialist advice from suitably qualified service providers such as occupational therapists and occupational physicians.

Council is seeking two main services from this tender: A fully managed end-to-end service for the delivery of pre-employment medical assessments, and the delivery of workplace fit-for-purpose assessments for existing workers. All tender offers must demonstrate the ability to provide health monitoring for audiometric testing as detailed in Section 58 of WHS Regulations 2011, as well as hazardous chemicals including asbestos, silica, scheduled chemicals as detailed in Schedule 14 of the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 and any other hazardous chemical for which there is a valid test method for detecting health effects or exposure. These assessments may be requested for both new and existing workers to Council.
