Local Artist for Mothers Bridge Shadow Art Design - Inland Rail - Albury To Illabo (A2I) and Stockinbingal to Parkes (S2P)

⁠⁠⁠Overview

Martinus Rail Pty Ltd, on behalf of Inland Rail, is seeking a local artist within Wiradjuri Country to create a shadow art design for the Mothers Bridge Shadow Art Design opportunity, associated with the Inland Rail Albury to Illabo (A2I) and Stockinbingal to Parkes (S2P) projects. The design will be attached to the overhead tensile mesh screening of the new Wagga Wagga Station footbridge, known as Mothers Bridge, which provides pedestrian access over the rail corridor at Wagga Wagga Railway Station.

About

The theme of the A2I Project is "Travelling across Wiradjuri Country with Respect" and the local theme for Wagga Wagga is "Ceremony". The colour of the new Mothers Bridge structural elements will be River Red Gum Red (brownish red).

Purpose

The Concept Design is intended to provide dappled shade and interest to the truss roof structure of Mothers Bridge, complementing the River Red Gum (brownish red) tone of the new structural elements and reflecting the themes of Travelling across Wiradjuri Country with Respect and/or Ceremony.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Development of a Concept Design that complements the River Red Gum (brownish red) tone of the new Mothers Bridge pedestrian structure
• Featuring stylised representations of local plants or animals (preferably not crows), or an abstract image, aligned with the themes of Travelling across Wiradjuri Country with Respect and/or Ceremony
• Presenting the Concept Design as one comprehensive scene spanning the width and length of the footbridge
• Preparing the Concept Design so that it is suitable for pixelation and can be attached using powder coated plates, created and installed by specialised contractors, to the overhead tensile mesh screen spanning the truss structure
• Designing the Concept Design to cover up to 55% of the open area of the screen, providing dappled shade and interest
