Albany Regional Tennis Centre - Stage 2 (Additional Courts)

⁠⁠⁠The City of Albany seeks to engage a suitably qualified Registered Building Contractor to seek all necessary  approvals and construct the second stage of Albany Regional Tennis Centre (ARTC). Refer to Section 2

1.2 SEPARABLE PORTIONS

The contractor is to price for two options as shown in as per Section 4.1 Request Documents. 

• Separable Portion 1 (Option 1) 

• The existing six courts will need specified backstays on the southern edge removed. 
•  Four additional tennis courts are to be constructed. 
•  The four new courts will share its northern fenceline with a portion of the southern fenceline of the existing six courts.

• Separable Portion 2 (Option 2) 

• The existing six courts will need specified backstays on the southern edge removed. 
•  The four additional courts are to be constructed, shifted south from Option 1 to allow the addition of a path between the new and existing courts.
•  This option includes additional access gates as per Document A to access the courts.

1.3 BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Albany has many fragmented tennis clubs and ageing facilities scattered throughout the city. The development of a regional tennis centre, to accommodate all clubs, will provide significant improvements to asset management and operations.

The Albany Regional Tennis Centre (ARTC) will see Merrifield Park Tennis Club and Lawley Park Tennis Club amalgamate to form Albany Tennis Club (ATC).

The overarching vision of this project is to develop a 16-court tennis centre, that will be delivered in multiple stages:

Stage 1 (completed in 2025)

• Including the construction of six hard courts as well as footings, conduits and conduit pits for future lighting. This fulfilled a like for like replacement of existing end-of-life and degraded infrastructure at current Merrifield Park Tennis Club and Lawley Park Tennis Club sites. 

Stage 2 Lighting (awarded to Castlehow– does not form part of this Request for Tender) 

• Lighting to the existing six courts (Separable portion A), lighting forward works (footings, conduits) for the planned next four courts (Separable portion B) and lighting to the planned next four courts after the courts are constructed (Separable portion C)
