Tender Description
The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is seeking a commercial market maker to continue providing market making services in the New Zealand electricity futures market.
Market making supports New Zealand’s electricity futures market by providing continuous buy and sell prices. This helps participants manage price risk and supports reliable price signals.
We are seeking a provider that:
- has a strong track record delivering similar services
- manages risk effectively
- understands the New Zealand electricity market and its challenges.
This is an opportunity for a supplier to play an important role in keeping New Zealand’s electricity market efficient and resilient.
The indicative timeline for this process is as follows:
- Deadline for Proposals: 20 July 2026
- Shortlisting of suppliers: August 2026
- Preferred supplier selection: September/October 2026
- Contract start: 1 March 2027
