Walumada 132kV Feeder Project EOI

⁠⁠⁠Purpose

The purpose of this document is to inform prospective partners of Ausgrids proposed delivery approach for the Walumada 132kV Feeders Project, encourage collaboration between cable manufacturers and Design & Construct partners to deliver a turnkey 132kV cable solution, and shortlist organisations for participation in the RFT process that demonstrate an aligned strategic vision and commitment to developing bids for the supply, installation and delivery of the project, including provision of a 10 year cable system warranty.

Background

The Macquarie Park area is experiencing significant load growth, driven primarily by the rapid expansion of data centres and increased residential development resulting from recent rezoning efforts. Network developments to be delivered by this project form an essential component of the infrastructure required to support this growth. To ensure the area can be supplied over the long term, a staged planning approach is required. This included strengthening both the Ausgrids 132kV network and upstream supply capacity while allowing the development of the network in line with demand growth. This feeder project is part of a broader project which includes plans to construct a new Walumada STS in Macquarie Park.

Scope

132kV feeder connections to East Ryde Transition Point

• Installation of 2x 132kV feeder connections to tee off 92G and 92J from East Ryde Transition Point to the new STS, including footings and steelwork to connect at East Ryde Transition Point.

• Construction of approximately 4.8km of dual circuit ductlines to the STS, installation of 2x 132kV feeder cables in these ductlines, and an approximately 30 in-line joints over 5 joint bays.

• Standard cable size of 1600mm2 and trench design should be used for the whole feeder route.

132kV feeder connection to Macquarie Park ZS

• Installation of 1x132kV feeder connection from double banking the Macquarie STS third transformer 132kV circuit breaker at Macquarie Park ZS to the new STS including inline jointing

• Construction of approximately 1.5km of dual circuit ductlines to the STS and installation of 1x 132kV feeder cables in these ductlines, and an approximately 6 in-line joints over 2 joint bays.

• Standard cable size of 2000mm2/2500mm2 and trench design should be used for the whole feeder route,
