Waste Audit Services for SSROC Councils

⁠⁠⁠SSROC, and its 12 Member Sydney Metro Councils, invite tenders to undertake waste audit services of the household kerbside bin collection services in accordance with this Request for Tender (RFT).

There are two (2) waste audits requested via this RFT:

1. Kerbside domestic waste audit of single and multi-unit dwellings (SUDs and MUDs) general waste, recycling and organics collections

2. High rise audit that focuses on auditing general waste, recycling and in some locations organics services in high density apartments with typically sixty (60) or more dwellings.

To ensure the same methodology and approach is used for both audits, tenderers must tender for providing both the kerbside domestic waste audit and the High-Rise audits in their responses. Each audit includes collecting samples, data analysis and reporting.

The aim of auditing household bins is to provide an evidence-based approach to planning council waste services, contracts and education campaigns by collecting data for each council and the SSROC region on the:

Composition, amount, type, volume, weight and proportion of materials within the waste streams, including:

• The diversion rate for each category of recycled material identified;

• Type of contamination (hazardous or otherwise) in each waste stream audited

• Diversion rate for each category of recycled material identified

• The calorific (energy) value of wastes.

This information is essential for councils in aiding the management of waste contracts, in planning education and engagement, planning facilities and when communicating with community and stakeholders and government.
