2 Portfolio Managers

⁠⁠⁠The Senior Program Portfolio Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy to support the Director, Value Chain Strategy & Governance (VCSG) in delivering complex program and portfolio management activities across an integrated workforce. As a senior‑level specialist, the Senior Program Portfolio Manager is responsible for the governance, planning and optimisation of the HtR program and project portfolio, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and Defence transformation objectives.

In partnership with the Director VCSG, the role plays a critical role in driving the operationalisation of the HtR value chain to enable strategic business outcomes through the Defence Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation. Using the enterprise value chain construct, the role provides high‑quality program and portfolio advice to senior leaders and stakeholders, ensuring alignment of processes, roles and enabling technologies to business‑led transformation outcomes.

The Senior Program Portfolio Manager manages an array of projects and programs within the HtR portfolio and may oversee multiple workstreams or portfolios concurrently. Responsibilities include establishing portfolio composition, grouping and categorising initiatives, prioritising work based on strategic business value, estimating delivery timelines and resource requirements, and identifying interdependencies and resource conflicts that may impact delivery. The role ensures effective portfolio planning, optimisation and risk management to support the successful delivery of individual projects and broader portfolio outcomes.

The role leads the delivery of complex programs, projects and associated activities within the HtR portfolio. This includes setting priorities aligned to strategic objectives, defining and sequencing work programs, communicating expectations, monitoring performance, and overseeing delivery in a dynamic and complex environment. The position may include people‑management responsibilities and requires the ability to build, lead and sustain a high‑performing and collaborative team.
