ARIC Independent Member - Expressions of Interest

⁠⁠⁠Bellingen Shire Council is seeking an independent member to join its Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC).

The ARIC provides independent advice to Council on governance, compliance, risk management and overall performance. This is an important role supporting transparency and accountability in local government.

About the Role

To be considered, you should have:

• Ability to read and understand financial statements
• Understanding of ethical requirements and conflicts of interest
• Strong judgement and independence
• Confidence to constructively challenge and ask questions
• Professionalism and commitment to the role
• Experience in areas such as risk, audit, governance, finance or performance
• Independence from Council

What`s on offer

• $1,000 (ex GST) per meeting (set by Council resolution and reviewed periodically)
• Minimum of 4 meetings per year (plus additional meetings if required)
• Meetings held in Bellingen or via video conference
• 4-year term, with option for reappointment
