Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the Round 9 Lead Mitigation Grant guidelines(PDF, 11MB) and check Council's lead mitigation grants decision tool to ensure you are eligible. The guidelines have recently been updated and provide clear information about what activities will be eligible for funding and how applications will be prioritised.
The Lead Mitigation Grant Program is funded by the NSW Government and administered through Lake Macquarie City Council. It aims to provide assistance for landowners or tenants of residential properties in the Lead Abatement Strategy (LAS) area (Figure 1) who have been adversely impacted by lead contamination from the former Pasminco Cockle Creek Smelter by:
• Supporting the community to identify and understand their contamination risk
• Supporting the community to appropriately remediate contaminated land
Please note: To be eligible for Round 9 grant activities must be complete by 1 May 2026.

Drop-in sessions
Council will hold free drop-in sessions in each round for community members to ask questions about the program and their eligibility for support. Council's Sustainability Engagement Officer (Land Contamination) will be available to answer questions and assist with grant applications.
Drop-in sessions will take place at Speers Point Library at following times:
- Thursday 7 May: 10am - 12 noon
- Monday 11 May: 3pm - 5pm
