SSA 046 Gas detection system - Defence Strategic Shipbuilding

⁠⁠⁠Package scope (indicative; final breakdown at RFQ)

• Wheelhouse gas detection panel and console, including any required modules/ancillaries.

• All required multi-gas detectors (H₂S, O₂, flammable, CO, refrigerant) and marine-rated accessories suitable for the installed environments and IP requirements.

• Audible/visual alarm devices to meet the requirement for vessel-wide audibility and local annunciation.

• Interface components for PA racks A/B, alarm columns (E/R and G/R), IMACS and VDR, plus monitoring communications (Modbus/EtherNet options).

• Programming/configuration deliverables, termination details (where supplier scope), commissioning support, and critical spares list.

Alarms, annunciation, and vessel-wide alerting

• System shall automatically sound an alarm audible throughout the vessel, with audible and visual alarms as required (layout reference provided in project drawings).

• 4.4 Power supply, resilience, and consumption

• Supplier to advise kW duty and kW standby.

• System shall have provision for dual power supply; if backup is via built-in batteries, provide battery sizing and calculation.

• 4.5 Interfaces & integration outputs

• Provide a communications channel for monitoring; preferred MODBUS TCP or

EtherNet/IP; MODBUS RTU acceptable if the above are not available; other protocols only with Austal approval.

• Communications must provide current feedback from individual detectors and panel alarms (common alarm, fault, etc.).

• Gas detection system shall interface to VDR.

• Provide discrete alarm outputs (minimum):

• 2 × gas detection alarm to PA rack A and PA rack B.
• 1 × gas detection alarm to E/R alarm column and 1 × to G/R alarm column.
• 1 × common alarm to IMACS.
• 1 × primary power supply failure to IMACS.
• 1 × secondary power supply failure to IMACS.
