Ernest St (Edith-Lily) Footpath Renewal

⁠⁠⁠Preamble

Cassowary Coast Regional Council (“Council”) is committed to the ongoing maintenance and upgrade of public infrastructure across the region. This project forms part of Council’s Footpath Renewal Program and is included in the planned capital works for the FY26/27 period. The works focus on improving pedestrian infrastructure and enhancing the overall streetscape along the western side of Edith Street (Bruce Highway).

The project area extends from 102 Edith Street (Roscoes Pizza) to 42–44 Ernest Street. The scope of works includes the renewal of existing footpaths to improve accessibility and pedestrian safety, along with streetscape enhancements such as tree planting and soft landscaping. The project will also involve adjustments to roadside parking to create a safer, more functional, and visually appealing environment that supports local businesses and the broader community.

Construction activities will include service relocations and minor water main connection works. Council has engaged Telstra Corporation to undertake the relocation of telecommunications services, and the successful Contractor will be required to coordinate closely with Telstra and other relevant stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of the works. Maintaining general access and a continuous potable water supply is essential to support the daily operations and needs of surrounding businesses and the local community throughout the construction period.
