Department of Education - Bluff Point Primary School - Playground and Shade Sails

⁠⁠⁠Obtain a CDC for all works involved in this project including shade sails and posts, and provide all necessary documentation to Department of Housing and Works to obtain a Building Permit through the Departments Permit Authority. Provide documentation for the playground and softfall, showing that they comply with the requirements of the relevant Australian Standards.

Scope:

Site Preparation

• Locate all underground services to the extent of the site. Clearly identify and mark to prevent damage;
• Remove existing playground and footings and dispose of offsite;
• Remove limestone blocks and dispose of offsite;
• Excavate to reduce levels and extend area for playground to the west;
• Relocate white playground sand to location on school site as advised by school;
• Establish new levels based on existing surrounding path levels. Area of playground and softfall to slope to
• ensure flush transitions between paving surfaces;
• Reshape site with 150mm roadbase/cracker dust sub-base compacted and finished to 50mm below
• surrounding edges;
• Supply and install pit extension and new pit lid to existing pit;
• On completion of west edge beam allow to level and grade ground.

Concrete

• Form up and pour new concrete edge beam to bitumen paving and to west side of playground area;

Playground

• Liaise with softfall and shade sail suppliers and installers;
• Supply and install new playground equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions

Shade Sails

• Liaise with softfall and playground suppliers and installers;
• Fabricate posts and shade saisl off site Excavate for, and install new shade sail posts;
• Supply and install new shade sails;

Softfall

• Liaise with shade sail and playground suppliers and installers;
• Carry out site preparation to ensure levels and shape sub-base are as required after installation of
• playground and sail posts.
• Ensure compaction around footings and behind kerbs;
• Supply and install cushion layers and soft fall to full area.

A site visit will be held at 18 Mitchell St, Bluff Point on 30 Apr, 2026 11:00 AM.
