Tender Description
Overview
The Ministry of Education (NZ) sought a main building contractor to carry out roofing replacement works at Whareama School in the Wairarapa, covering Blocks A, H, I, K and L. The works were identified through Whareama School's Ten Year Property Plan, which identified a number of roofing improvements across various buildings at the school.
Scope
The scope includes:
- Renewal of roof coverings, flashings, spouting and downpipes across the identified buildings
- Removal and replacement of non trafficable roof sheets with an appropriate trafficable, heavy duty translucent roofing product, laid over safety mesh
- Removal and reinstatement of timber cladding in some areas to allow installation of new apron flashings
- Removal and replacement of high level windows, fitted with new winders
- Supply and installation of two new skylights
Key risks to the project
- Safety of all students and staff during construction, with works covering all areas of the school site
- Encountering and dealing with any asbestos containing material that could be identified before or during construction
- Weather protection and temporary works required to minimise or eliminate damage to interior parts of the building
