Adelaide Central Market Public Address System Upgrade

⁠⁠⁠The Corporation of the City of Adelaide (ABN 20 903 762 572) invites Quotes for the Supply and Installation of a Market-wide Public Address System including the Existing Market and Market Expansion.

Background

The Adelaide Central Market (Market), established in 1869 is one of the largest undercover fresh produce markets in the Southern Hemisphere. Currently home to more than 70 traders, the Market will soon be doubling it’s size as part of the Market Square project. A subsidiary of the City of Adelaide, the Market is a thriving community of life, colour, culture, and aromas all year round. Today the Market sees more than 8 million visitors and is the most visited tourism destination in South Australia, showcasing world-class produce and iconic local businesses.

Project

To provide an enhanced shopping experience and improve operations, the Adelaide Central Market Authority (ACMA) is looking to install a new PA/Music System across both spaces (Existing Market and Market Expansion).

The current PA system uses the Emergency EWIS system which does not provide a uniform and quality audio experience. The new system will work separate to the existing EWIS system however will need to link in to ensure the system will mute if the EWIS system activates.

Scope

The successful tender will supply and install the proposed system across both spaces including testing, commissioning and training of the ACMA Team. There is no removal/make good of the existing system, however the new system will need to be overridden by the existing EWIS system to enable the new system to cut out should the EWIS activate.

Proposed System

Through an independent consultant, a Yamaha system has been proposed, with speakers at 20m intervals and unique solutions within key dwell areas. These areas are to be zones as noted on Attachment B, with the flexibility to control what is being played in each area from a central control point/device. In key dwell areas ambient microphones are proposed to ensure a suitable level of amplification without affecting quieter areas.

System Requirements

• Individually/Grouped Controlled Zones – both amplification and input/output

• Ability to input PA over all zones regardless of input

• Ideally portable control system eg. ipad to enable onsite adjustments/control

• Must feed into EWIS system to ensure shutoff during emergency alerts.
