The Werrikimbe National Park requires Fire Access Fire Trail Upgrades (Stage 2 - Carrai Management Unit).
Scope:
The Fire Access and Fire Trail (FAFT) Program focuses on delivering an approved FAFT Plan that is compliant with the Rural Fires Amendment (Fire Trails) Act 2016 and the NSW RFS Fire Trail Standards (Standards)Version 2.0.
The total length of the fire trails to be completed, renewed, and upgraded by these works will be approximately 50km and will utilise the existing fire trail corridor footprint. Works that involve disturbing new ground are limited and identified on the provided work maps. An NPWS Area representative will be appointed to guide the work specifics and supervise the site.
The works will include FAFT Upgrade by clearing regrowth and vegetation, repairing the trail surface, clearing and installing, where required, new well-functioning drainage structures, filling erosion, installing sediment traps, and widening trail sections. Additionally, clearing and widening will be done for passing and turnaround bays at specified locations
The Contractor will be required to use the Avenza Maps Pro app on a suitable mobile device (e.g., iPad) to locate the trails, identify the required works, record completed locations, and share progress notes. Georeferenced maps are provided, marked with passing and turnaround bay locations, other points of interest, and the required works for each trail.
