Tender Description
The Department of Communities (Communities) is progressing work to improve child protection decision-making processes to ensure increased cultural awareness and safety for Aboriginal children and families when making a placement arrangement.
This Registration of Interest (ROI) is open to Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to register their interest of considering provision of the Aboriginal Representative Organisation service.
The planned changes to the Children and Community Services Act 2004 (the Act) are contained in the Children and Community Services Amendment Act 2021 (the Amendment Act). The provisions in the Act relating to AROs are yet to be proclaimed. When the relevant provisions of the Amendment Act are proclaimed, the Act will require Communities to engage Aboriginal Representative Organisations (AROs) in placement consultations and provide opportunity to participate in the preparation of the cultural support plan for Aboriginal children in the care of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Department.
As this is a ‘Registration of Interest’ only. Organisations will still be required to follow Communities formal approval and procurement process to assess suitability and capacity to deliver services in the future.
