The Department of Finance is seeking a highly qualified ICT Project Manager with exceptional expertise in stakeholder relationship management to oversee the implementation of critical ICT components for a major business initiative. The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the transition from an existing claims management system to a Software‑as‑a‑Service (SaaS) claims management platform hosted in the Federal Government PROTECTED Cloud.
The designated project manager will be based within the ICT Division (ICTD) Projects team, reporting directly to the Assistant Secretary. This individual will work collaboratively with the business areas to ensure the successful delivery of ICT components, operating in accordance with established ICT Division governance, legislative requirements, and policies. This individual is also responsible for identifying and applying the most suitable project management methodology (PRINCE2, Agile or Scrum) to successfully lead the project.
The role focuses on delivery and technical execution and includes the following responsibilities:
- Lead and manage ICT-specific project activities with minimal supervision, including planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and delivery of ICT work packages.
- Develop, maintain, and manage key project documentation relevant to ICT scope, including business cases, project initiation documents, delivery plans, schedules, and risk and issue registers.
- Work closely with the ICT solution architect, Cyber Security team, and other technical stakeholders to provide technical, cyber security, and operational expertise to support SaaS market assessment and product selection. This ensures the selected solution aligns with departmental ICT standards and architecture and is fit for purpose.
- Identify, manage, and resolve ICT risks and issues, exercising delegated authority across a broad range of ICT activities.
- Coordinate ICT resources, vendors, and contractors, and contribute to procurement and contract management activities where ICT capability is required.
- Partner with business project managers to bridge business requirements and ICT delivery, supporting sponsors and product owners to translate business outcomes into actionable SaaS solutions.
- Collaborate to establish an appropriate operational support model for the SaaS solution following formal release to production.
- Other project management related duties as directed by the supervisor.
