Fremantle Prison Fire and Life Services Upgrades – Stage 2

⁠⁠⁠Fremantle Prison is a UNESCO World Heritage site of exceptional cultural significance, managed by the Department on behalf of the Minister for Heritage. The site remains operational for heritage tourism and events, requiring all works to be delivered with the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and respect for heritage values.

The Fire and Life Services project is a multi-stage initiative to improve fire safety systems and electrical services compliance across the site. Stage 1 delivered upgrades to the Main Cell Block, East Workshops, and Tunnels, including extensions to the fire detection and occupant warning systems. Stage 2 will continue these compliance upgrades in key heritage buildings, including the Gatehouse, New Division, and No’s 10, 12, and 14 The Terrace.
