The Third Space - Artist Residency Program (Expression of Interest)

Central Coast Council is seeking applications from early career and emerging visual artists, who identify as culturally and linguistically diverse and First Nations and Torres Strait Islander, for The Third Space 2025/26 artist residency program.

Third Space Residency is an opportunity to share, explore and develop new works, while also engaging with the broader community.

Council is committed to creating welcoming, inclusive and flexible opportunities for creatives who represent diverse backgrounds within our community. We welcome and encourage applications from creatives of all abilities, genders, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds or sexual orientation.

Residency dates

There will be two artist residencies delivered this financial year.

• Residency 1 - Monday 4 May 2026 – Sunday 23 May 2026
• Residency 2 - Monday 8 June 2026 – Sunday 28 June 2026

What you’ll receive

Artists selected for The Third Space residency will receive:

• Up to 3-week paid residency of up to $5,000
• Access to a dedicated workspace within the program venue
• Dedicated curatorial support (culturally specific)
• Program and resourcing support from Council’s Arts & Culture project officer
• Opportunities for community engagement, presentation, and public facing activities
• Inclusion in Council’s marketing and promotional activities

What you'll need to apply

To submit your Expression of Interest, you will need to provide:

• A short artist statement
• A brief outline of what you plan to work on during the residency
• A portfolio (up to 10 images or links)
• Any relevant supporting material
