Ipswich Hospital - Transit Lounge - Construction

⁠⁠⁠Background

The Ipswich Hospital Transit Lounge is set to undergo a significant expansion to meet the growing demands of the local population and to alleviate pressure on the hospital’s busy emergency department. This project is part of a broader initiative to improve access to health services and enhance patient care.

The proposed upgrade will increase the Transit Lounge’s capacity from its current five beds and eight chairs to ten beds and fourteen chairs with extended operating hours, including weekend and public holiday services.

The Transit Lounge provides safe, timely care for patients awaiting admission, transfer, or discharge. Key functions include:

•  Facilitating discharges and admissions: Managing Inter-Hospital Transfers (IHTs) and providing monitored spaces for patients awaiting transport.
•  Supporting QAS transport: Monitoring patients awaiting Queensland Ambulance Services (QAS) transport to homes or other facilities.

Requirements

West Moreton Health (WMH) is seeking to engage a Building Contractor to manage Design from 90% DD to IFC and deliver the Main Works construction for the Transit Lounge redevelopment.

• Construction of the Transit Lounge building extension, including demolition and fire wall upgrade works.
•  Internal fit-out and reconfiguration.
•  Services diversions, isolations and upgrades to support the new Transit Lounge.
•  Integration of new building services with existing hospital infrastructure.
•  Completion of all architectural, structural and services works required for operational readiness as per the Design Documentation.

The location of the new Transit Lounge is located at Ipswich Hospital, Chelmsford Avenue, Ipswich QLD 4305, Australia. The works are primarily within the Ward Block, Level 4 with some enabling works located within close vicinity.
