Tender Description

The Cocos (Keeling) Islands (CKI) are located approximately 2,750 kilometres northwest of Perth, Western Australia, in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The islands experience a tropical cyclone season primarily from November to March, making resilient emergency shelter infrastructure critical to community safety and emergency planning.

The Emergency Shelter at Lot 178 Sydney Highway, West Island is owned by the Commonwealth Government of Australia (The Commonwealth). The Western Australian Government, Department of Housing and Works (DHW) is responsible for managing the Emergency Shelter under an agreement on behalf of The Commonwealth. Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) (The Principal) has been contracted to provide comprehensive property management services on behalf of The Department of Housing and Works (The Client). The Shelter serves as a critical place of refuge for community members during severe weather events and emergencies. The shelter's continuous availability and fitness for purpose is essential to the community.

To enhance the Emergency Shelter’s performance during extreme weather events, Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), at the request of the Client, commissioned a comprehensive structural and building condition assessment. The assessment identified a number of building fabric elements specifically doors, windows, screens, and associated components that are recommend being upgraded. These upgrades will improve the Emergency Shelter’s long-term resilience and suitability as a place of refuge

JLL is seeking a skilled, suitably qualified, and experienced contractor to undertake the replacement and upgrade of doors, windows, and screens, along with associated remedial works as detailed in the engineering documents and specifications.
