Tender Description
The purpose of this research is to increase our understanding of the system factors (and their interactions) that are influencing impairment from fatigue among heavy vehicle commercial drivers in New Zealand.
The objectives of the research are:
a. To provide a comprehensive review of available information on the systemic factors relating to impairment from fatigue among heavy vehicle commercial drivers and provide a current stocktake of available interventions across the system levels.
b. To gather multi-stakeholder insights on organisational size and sector-specific (e.g., livestock, milk tanks, logging, freight etc.) conditions and arrangements leading to driver impairment from fatigue.
c. To gather multi-stakeholder insights on the barriers, challenges, and conflicts that prevent effective fatigue management across various sectors and organisation size/arrangements.
d. To gather multi-stakeholder insights on the positive systemic factors improving/decreasing driver impairment from fatigue across various sectors and organisation size/arrangements.
e. To visually represent the research findings using a form of system mapping to highlight the cross-cutting systemic factors, how they interact, and potential leverage/intervention points across the system.
f. To identify upstream, system-wide interventions designed to improve impairment from fatigue among heavy vehicle commercial drivers in New Zealand.
