Domestic and Family Violence Young Person Pilot
Tender ID: 609181
Tender Details
Tender Description
DCJ invites services in Blacktown, Orange or Newcastle with expertise supporting young people or families, or in DFV, to deliver a pilot for young people using/experiencing DFV and their families
Project goals
The program aims to:
- Address and reduce the use and impact of DFV-related behaviours while supporting the wellbeing and recovery of children and young people who have experienced DFV and are at risk of using DFV
- Strengthen protective factors such as positive relationships, emotional regulation, and school or community engagement
- Improve family functioning and caregiver capacity to support change
- Reduce the likelihood of escalation into more serious violence, justice involvement, or long-term harm, and
- Support young people to develop safe, healthy, and non-violent pathways into adulthood
Scope
The provider will deliver a three-year pilot program for 10-17-year-olds experiencing, using, or at risk of using DFV.
The program will include case management, mentoring and support to address DFV behaviours, as well as work with family members to improve family functioning and caregiver capacity.
Together, these components aim to interrupt pathways toward future violence, justice involvement, and intergenerational patterns of DFV, while promoting young people’s safety, wellbeing, and positive development in a safe environment.
The pilot will be delivered in a single location, in Blacktown, Orange or Newcastle, and use the local Youth Action Meeting as a key referral point.
The detailed design will be developed by the service provider in collaboration with DCJ in a rapid design phase.
The pilot responds to a service gap in which young people may be too young for traditional behaviour change programs and be living in complex family environments requiring both individual and family-focused support.
