⁠⁠⁠In January 2026, the Australian Government announced a $25 million national photovoltaic (PV) recycling pilot program to inform the development of a future national product stewardship scheme. In this context, the South Australian Government, through the Department of State Development in collaboration with Green Industries SA, is undertaking a feasibility study to assess the potential for establishing an end ‑ of ‑ life solar panel recycling hub in South Australia, including consideration of Port Pirie and alternative locations.
