Design and Construct Contract - Newcastle Logistics Precinct

⁠⁠⁠EnergyCo invites qualified organisations to register interest in the procurement process for a Design and Construct contract to design and build the Newcastle Logistics Precinct.

Project goals

The objectives of the Project are to:

• Facilitate the timely, efficient and successful delivery of key equipment and components required for the construction of critical Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) infrastructure, including generation, firming and transmission projects.
• Increase portside oversize and overmass (OSOM) storage and handling capacity to reduce supply chain bottlenecks affecting REZs.
• Prioritise the development of portside storage and handling infrastructure to meet peak demand periods for delivery of the REZs, critical program milestones and OSOM equipment needs of Access Rights Holders.
• Support the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap and other electricity generation initiatives contributing to the broader energy transition in NSW.
• Contribute to efficiency of logistical movements given limited hardstand available within the Port of Newcastle.

Scope

Key features of the Project scope include the design and construction of the following:

• hardstand and internal roads used for the unloading, loading and storage of materials and equipment for renewable energy projects;
• associated stormwater drainage to manage surface flows and water quality across and around impervious surfaces;
• site access road and crossings over existing stormwater channels, for the provision of access and egress from the hardstand area;
• internal roads, staff amenity buildings, carpark and other ancillary infrastructure to facilitate operation of the Project; and
• utility adjustments and provisions within the Project area.

Procurement Process

The successful contractor will be selected through a two-phase Procurement Process involving a Stage 2 -EOI and followed by a Request for Tender (RFT). Interested parties must first respond to this Invitation to Register.
