Detailed design for ASALC Indoor Pool Heating Electrification. - Alice Springs Town Council
Tender ID: 608152
Tender Details
Tender Description
Design a fully electrified indoor pool heating system utilizing commercial-grade air-source heat pumps capable of offsetting 100% of the existing indoor pool gas heating demand under normal operation.
Undertake first-principles heat load calculations based on pool geometry, water volumes, evaporation losses, operational temperatures, ambient conditions and operational schedules.
Use historical gas consumption data to validate and sense-check calculated heating loads and seasonal energy demand.
Design a supporting Solar PV system targeting approximately 169 kWp, and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) targeting approximately 200 kWh to offset increased electrical load and manage peak demand
Adjust both Solar PV system and BESS capacity subject to construction budget
Design an integrated control and Building Management System (BMS) strategy that prioritizes solar utilization, manages electrical demand and leverages the thermal mass of the pool water as a form of thermal energy storage.
Confirm, through detailed electrical modelling and engagement with Power and Water Corporation (PWC), whether the existing electrical infrastructure can be retained or whether upgrades (including MSB and/or transformer upgrades) are required.
Deliver a structural assessment of the indoor pool roof and confirm its suitability for the proposed Solar PV installation.
