Delivered in partnership with SARRAH, the Flagship Leadership Program supports participants to build leadership confidence, self-awareness, and strategic capability through flexible, self‑paced learning and practical tools.

  • Leadership knowledge increased from 2.67 to 4.33 out of 5
  • Self‑concept as a leader improved from 2.33 to 4.00 out of 5
  • Likelihood to recommend averaged 82%

Participants described becoming more reflective, confident, and person-centred leaders. Participants also highlighted improved communication, stronger team relationships, and a greater ability to think strategically and sustainably.

Program Objectives

Facilitated by Cath Maloney, CEO of SARRAH, and Gemma Tuxworth, SARRAH Project Director, the Leadership program was developed in collaboration with the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation. It is uniquely designed for busy rural and remote Allied Health professionals, offering a flexible and practical learning experience.

Over a seven week period, participants will engage in approximately 20 hours of CPD-accredited online learning, including live facilitated sessions, self-paced modules, and networking opportunities with peers within the region and across Australia.

Participants will:

  • Engage with professional networks and identify influential support structures.
  • Develop essential leadership skills and map out clear growth pathways.
  • Strengthen their ability to advocate for improved health delivery and outcomes in rural settings.
  • Identify a leadership challenge specific to their context and create a tailored Leadership Action Plan, with confidential feedback offered upon request.

Course content includes:

  • The difference between leadership and management;
  • The mindset and behaviours of effective leaders;
  • Practical leadership capabilities;
  • Sustaining leadership in challenging environments.

Participants who submit their Leadership Action Plan will receive a certificate of completion.

The PHN is excited to continue our broader commitment to supporting all primary care allied health providers and ensuring a thriving, future-ready allied health workforce.
