Milford Track Suspension Bridge Replacements and Retrofits

This contract is for the construction of 2 x replacement suspension bridges – Boatshed suspension bridge over the Arthur River on the Milford Track and Quintin suspension bridge over the Roaring Burn at Quintin Junction on the Milford Track.

Four (4) retrofits on other Milford Track suspension bridges cable bridges – the upper and lower suspension bridges on the Sutherland Falls track, Mintaro Hut suspension bridge, and the Giants Gate suspension bridge.

Due to delays in determining the retrofit options for the Roaring Burn suspension bridge, the Department may, at the Director-General’s sole discretion, also engage the preferred supplier of the Boatshed and Quintin bridges to deliver the construction of the Roaring Burn retrofit option as a variation to the contract.

Bridge construction works must start by the 1st of June 2026 or earlier and be completed by the 16th of October 2026. The priority of works for construction are: Boatshed, Quitin and then the retrofit bridges.
