Expressions of Interest – Deputy to the Presiding Member of the Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee

The Shire of Quairading is seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced community members and external professionals to join its Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee as the Deputy to the independent Presiding Member. The Committee assists Council by providing a transparent and independent process in the oversight of internal and external audit functions, financial and risk management, and the continuous improvement of governance and organisational performance in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995 and its associated Regulations. The position does not have membership of the committee and chairs the meeting only when the Presiding Member is unable to.

The successful Candidate will demonstrate:

• Suitable experience in financial management, risk management, governance, compliance and audit processes.
• Understanding of local government legislative requirements with regard to financial reporting and auditing.
• High level of personal integrity, analytical thinking and strong communication skills.
• Experience in chairing meetings or willingness to undertake training provided.

Additional desirable skills and experiences include:

• Strong leadership qualities.
• Knowledge of the local government sector.

The following will prevent an applicant form being an Independent Member:

1. Employment with the Shire of Quairading;

2. Being an Elected Member of the Shire of Quairading or any other local government;

3. Being related to any person under 1. or 2.

Remuneration for this position is set by Council at $150 per meeting in line with the State Administrative Tribunal Determination of meeting attendance fees for independent committee members for local governments Band 1-4.
