Project goals
Objective
The objective of this tender process is to identify a cleaning services contractor capable of delivering a tailored, high‑quality solution across the Gallery’s five sites. The preferred contractor will bring demonstrated experience in servicing cultural institutions or comparable public buildings where an elevated level of presentation is required.
Contractor Requirements
The successful contractor will demonstrate:
1. Relevant Experience and ability to meet scope
- Proven capability in cleaning cultural institutions, museums, galleries, or similar high-profile public buildings.
- Understanding of environments requiring meticulous presentation standards and careful handling of sensitive spaces.
- Ability to provide all the services outlined.
2. Workforce Stability and Management
- Strong evidence of consistent staffing levels and low staff turnover.
- Robust supervision models that ensure high performance and accountability.
- A clear strategy for maintaining staffing continuity across all sites.
3. Training and Capability
- Ongoing staff development approaches that reinforce quality, safety, and attention to detail.
4. Communication and Service Delivery
- Effective communication processes between site staff, supervisors, and Gallery representatives.
- Reporting mechanisms that support transparency, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
Scope
The following Gallery sites are included for cleaning services:
- Sydney Domain Campus sites Naala Badu & Naala Nura
- Brett Whiteley Studio (BWS)
- The Off-Site Non-Collection Store and offices at Riverwood
- The Off-Site Collection Store – Location TBA
The cleaning services will include the following broad groups of tasks:
- The Core Cleaning of all internal public spaces and back offices and external spaces as specified to a height of four (4) meters.
- Replacement of toilet tissues, paper towels and liquid soap from stocks that is to be purchased and managed by the contractor to the Gallery’s specifications. Storage areas will be provided.
- Rubbish collection – wet and dry rubbish collected from waste bins and locations as specified. Supporting recycling efforts as required. Other rubbish and waste left by patrons is to be cleaned by the Contractor.
- Management of all hygiene services as specified by the Gallery.
- Additional cleaning services including but not limited to carpet, glass, high pressure, and blind/curtain cleaning.
- Artwork cleaning is exempt, specific process around work and around Artworks will be provided.
