Martin Rd suffered damage to the embankment in the AGRN1012 event. This damage compromised of loss of shoulder and pavement damage. LCC developed an EPAR funding claim for the restoration of this asset. As design developed it was identified that a more resilient solution was available by undertaking construction of a new bridge at an upstream location. This has benefits for increased flood immunity, road safety, and reduced construction impact to traffic.

NSW RA approved this alternate treatment under the Portfolio governance structure.

The scope of design services includes:

a) Road design (geometry, alignment and staging);

b) Pavement and surfacing design;

c) Drainage and stormwater infrastructure;

d) Bridge and culvert structures;

e) Flood immunity and hydraulic structures;

f) Geotechnical works including soil nails and retaining structures;

g) Utility coordination and relocation design;

h) WHS and Safety in Design risk management;

i) Landscape and environmental protection measures;

j) Survey data integration and handover;

k) Constructability and lifecycle maintenance considerations;

l) Flood Modelling;

m) Environmental Assessment; and

n) Biodiversity Assessment.
