Tender Description
ABOUT THE TENDER:
Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is seeking tenders from competent contractors to provide materials and services to undertake the Track Rehabilitation and Ride Quality Works.
Scope:
Track Rehabilitation Project under the Network Infrastructure Program (NIP) aims to reduce the experienced train delays between Sydney to Albury by removal of existing and recurring TSRs along the section of track. The Works to be done to remove these TSRs is to replace the fouled ballast by undercutting, ballast cleaning, sledding and discrete works at fixed locations. Additionally, removal of mud holes and reforming the drainage to prevent future mud holes and fouling of ballast which in turn reduces potential TSRs.
As part of the Network Investment Program (NIP) – Track Rehabilitation and Ride Quality, ARTC is delivering targeted upgrade works at Bethungra on the Main South Line. This location has been identified as a priority site due to a combination of degraded track condition, formation and drainage deficiencies, ride quality issues, and asset interface constraints impacting operational performance.
The level crossing at Olympic Hwy, Bethungra interfaces with ARTC’s main south UP and DN track assets at 456.600 km. On the UP Main, “pumping” due to drainage issues have been observed with the outer rail super elevation being approximately 35mm lower than design levels while the DN Main has fouled ballast and drainage concerns entering the level crossing.
The asphalt infill panels and road pavement at the track interface are showing signs of severe degradation and failure with uneven levels over the rail asset.
The Level Crossing upgrade will:
- Replace the existing asphalt level crossing with a Strail pads level crossing system.
- Upgrade the track through the crossing to 60 kg rail, including replacement of identified insulated joints.
- Reinstate superelevation on the UP Main as per ARTC standards to address current TSRs.
- Address poor formation condition through the level crossing and approaches, including formation reconstruction drainage improvement.
