Tender Description
Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) operates irrigation and drainage services for the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area (MIA) in New South Wales, providing water to over 3,000 landholdings. The MIA region is currently undergoing an expansion into a wider range of agricultural farming methods, technologies & products that require efficient water distribution.
This project will progress the modernisation of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area through the replacement of aging channels with pipelines and the application of channel lining solutions to the aged channels. These works will improve water delivery efficiencies and increase delivery performance to meet industry demands, enable regional agribusinesses to maximise their potential for sustainable production, invest in regional communities through local opportunities and deliver water for the environment. These works will contribute to a resilient community that is well-adapted and able to reside, and thrive, in a water-constrained future.
The proposed MI program of works includes design, material supply, construction, and project management. Delivery of the works is planned to occur over two stages across a two-year period, commencing in 2026. Design and construction timelines are expected to start in March of each year and conclude by November of the same year. The work will be issued as contract packages, predominately using contract forms that comply with Australian Standards.
MI invites companies, or joint ventures, with track record of pipe material supply/manufacturing, significant civil design/construction expertise and capabilities, to submit an Expression of Interest for prequalification and shortlisting. Extensive experience in pipeline projects, channel lining, regulating and irrigation structures and construction delivery is required, with a strong preference for experience within the irrigation sector.
Key project quantities are listed below:
- Replacing and upgrading existing irrigation channels with pipelines approximately 22km
- Channel lining with HDPE material approximately 58km
- Regulators, outlets and escapes associated with the laterals approximately 387
- Shortlisted companies will be invited to submit tenders for works packages associated with the project During the first quarter of 2026.
