Mungo National Park New Solar Power System
Tender ID: 605806

Tender Description
Project goals
This procurement is to supply and install appropriate solar power equipment and infrastructure to enable the Mungo National Park Compound and Visitor Centre Precinct to be non-reliant on 'grid' power supply, except as a back-up.
This will be through establishing new solar panel arrays on the roof of identified buildings, as well as establishing a central point for battery banks and managing the solar power supply.
The Precinct experiences regular ‘brown-outs’ during summer when the electricity usage exceeds the power supply capacity, impacting visitor experience and visitor and staff safety.Increasing the grid electricity supply to the Precinct was investigated.
The improvement was limited due to the powerline constraints and the Precinct would still be subject to ‘black-outs’ from interruptions to supply to the powerline. Reducing electricity usage is not feasible due to increased visitation, operational staffing requirements and ineffectiveness of alternative low power cooling equipment.
Scope
- Supply, installation and commissioning of solar panels and inverters and their associated equipment and infrastructure on the roof of Mungo Machinery Shed and Mungo Workshop Shed to be connected to the precinct’s power network through the existing switchboards
- Modification of the Storage Shed to be compliant for accommodating storage batteries, inverters and main switchboard.
- Supply and installation in the modified Storage Shed the storage batteries with cabinets, inverters to manage input from/output to the sub switchboards with solar panel arrays connected and an inverter to manage input from the ‘grid’.
- Modifications to the power supply from the power pole to the Mungo Homestead and Cottage, compliant with powerline owner/operator requirements.
- Supply and installation of an upgraded main switchboard that includes a main switch for each of the houses not on the existing main switchboard; the Mungo Homestead and Mungo Cottage.
