1 Manager Project Specialist

The Cyber Security, Cloud and Networks Branch within DFAT's Information Management and Technology Division has a requirement for an ICT labour hire resource to undertake the role of Project Technical Lead.

ION is a major security initiative modernising the Department’s global digital environment to meet evolving Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) requirements. It delivers resilient, reliable, and user‑focused technology services across Australia’s overseas network, strengthening core ICT foundations through cloud‑first design and modern identity management so staff can work efficiently and securely anywhere.

A Tech Lead is required because the project involves complex, interdependent technical components that must be designed, integrated, and assured to meet security, architectural, and PSPF‑aligned requirements. The role provides technical oversight across internal teams and the Managed Service Provider, ensures solution components integrate correctly, guides design decisions, manages technical dependencies, and prevents misalignment across cloud, identity, networking, and security technologies—responsibilities documented in the ION Tech Lead position description and supporting project discussions.
