Sewer Vent Stack Removal - Stage 1

Federation Council (Council) is located in the Murray region of New South Wales. It was formed in 2016 from the merger of Corowa Shire with the neighbouring Urana Shire.

Council’s LGA comprises over 5,000 square kilometres and covers the main urban areas of Corowa, Mulwala and Howlong and some smaller surrounding cropping and pastoral regions to the north such as Urana.

The Vent Stack Removal work needs to be carried out at multiple location in Corowa.

Site Brief Description

In 2024, Federation Council conducted a condition assessment of 44 sewer vent stacks in Corowa, followed by an odour and corrosion assessment to determine the necessary staged approach for removal or replacement.

Based on these reports, 8 of the 44 vent stacks have been identified as being in poor condition and can be removed, with their connections to the downstream manholes sealed.

The vent stacks for this project are primarily located on private properties, with the exception of one.
