Supply and Installation of Site Facilities - Owen Springs, Katherine and Channel Island Power Stations

Territory Generation requires specific permanent facilities to be supplied and installed at Owen Springs, Katherine and Channel Island Power Stations to support the construction and operation of industrial scale batteries at these sites.

This project will engage the market on several occasions to secure specific services, in this instance installation of site facilities. It is expected that this work will take some months to complete. It is therefore essential that the process to engage a suitable contractor commence as soon as possible to avoid delaying the target commencement date of the EPI contactor.

Territory Generation (TGen) is overseeing the installation of new grid scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs.

The sites in Katherine and Alice Springs require a permanent building (transportable) that will initially be used as site offices for the Territory Generation Construction Team. Post construction the building will remain and be re-purposed to be used for long term maintenance team support and specialist parts storage.

The site in Darwin is the recently completed DKBESS Project and requires a building for long term maintenance team support.

The contract will include:

• initial design, structural engineering and documentation

• off site construction

• delivery to site and associated cranage

• site installation including precast footings and permanent tie downs

• ramps and stairs

• Issue of Building Permit and final Certificate of Occupancy

• accessible connection points for services

The BESS program is staged with buildings required at different times over the next 6 month.

Description of Works:

• Supply and install new transportable building to Owen Springs Power Station (Alice Springs) 
• Supply and install new transportable building to Katherine Power Station (Katherine) 
• Supply and install new transportable building to existing DKBESS battery site at Channel Island Power Station (Darwin)
