Tender Description
The Department of Education is proposing to deliver new infrastructure at the above address. This includes a new three-storey administration, general learning and multipurpose building, and play area and garden. The new building comprises:
• Ground level / Level 1 - Multipurpose room, covered learning area, outside school hours care space, kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining, theory space, services and plant and amenities.
• First floor / Level 2 - Collection area and pop-up space, display room, volunteer base, library, archive, visiting specialist space, multipurpose room, reception and waiting area, data room and amenities.
• Second floor / Level 3 - Four General learning areas, student and retreat spaces, outdoor learning area, sensory and therapy rooms, store rooms, art room and amenities. To establish the new building, existing buildings comprising A, F, B and H blocks will be demolished and a temporary administration building will be sited on the north-western side of the school and removed on completion of new building. Other improvements include a large central courtyard with play area and gardens. The school has 5 on-site car parking spaces which will be increased to 10 on-site spaces.
As a result of demolition reducing classroom numbers overall, the project will decrease the student enrolment capacity from 162 students to 120 students and associated decrease in staff. Enrolment demand beyond 120 students is anticipated to be accommodated at a new school (in planning).
