Cetacean Sightings Application (CSA) Modernisation and Data Portal Development
The Cetacean Sightings Application (CSA) is the Australian Government’s application for recording and reporting cetacean sightings, associated survey data and mitigation activities during marine seismic surveys. Originally developed in 2008, the CSA was created to provide a standardised, consistent method for industry to fulfil their regulatory obligations for cetacean interaction reporting under Australia’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.
The CSA supports monitoring and compliance with multiple regulatory instruments. The application is in need of updating to a new and modern format as per the attached Statement of Requirements.
