Arapawanui Low level Bridge Repair

108 Arapawanui Bridge is at approx. RP11600 of Aropaonui Road; Arapawanui Low Level Bridge is located approximately 11.5 km east of State Highway 2 on Aropaonui Road.

NB. Only tender submissions from tenderers pre-qualified for Prequal work group Bridge Construction Level A will be considered.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Due to the holiday shutdown period, there will be no responses to questions received on or after the 17 December 2025 until the week starting 12 January 2026. Questions received prior to 17 December will be responded to by 19 December.

This bridge has been severely damaged during Cyclone Gabrielle.

This road does not have any detour, and it serves for property access and a large forestry block.

The structure is a low-level bridge/spillway which is overtopped often.

The scope of this contract (NZS 3910;2013) comprises the following technical elements:

• Installation of a new concrete spillway encapsulated with a sheet pile wall

• Rock rip rap placement within active river channel and upstream & downstream of the new spillway

• New beam on upstream side of existing structure

• New deck to existing structure using precast panels

• New abutment/piles

• Temporary access road and upgrade of existing ford

• Sealed road approaches

• Provide temporary access to residents during construction (this can include the existing structure)

• Compliance with all relevant resource consent and environmental management conditions
