Provision of Emission Profiles
Tender ID: 601751
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Provision of Emissions Profiles for regions and selected demonstration farms including farm level Cost Benefit Analysis is a key deliverable under the South Australia Livestock Sustainable Solutions Project, jointly invested by PIRSA and Meat & Livestock Australia.
This component of the project consists of up of 3 work streams: regional emissions profiles, emissions baselining on selected sustainable solutions demonstration sites, and a series of ex-ante cost benefit analysis for farm-level mitigation activities.
This work aligns with PIRSA’s strategic objectives to foster sustainable primary industries, drive innovation, and support informed decision-making through credible data. The project will also support PIRSA’s ongoing commitments under both the SA Carbon Farming Roadmap and the State Net Zero Strategy, along with the MLA 2030 strategy contributing toward Australia’s net zero ambitions. Interested businesses are encouraged to submit responses for one or more individual components, or for the full scope of the project.
Scope:
Component 1: Regional Emissions Baseline Profiles
1) Four (4) comprehensive regional emissions baseline reports, one for each rainfall zone detailing but not limited to:
- Typical livestock production systems and practices.
- Emissions intensity metrics (e.g., emissions per kg of meat or wool).
- Soil carbon data and improvement potential.
- Climate and soil type considerations.
2) Visual data representations (e.g., charts, maps, tables) to support ease of interpretation and use by producers.
3) Summary factsheets for each region tailored for producer engagement and extension activities.
Component 2: Emissions Baselining on Sustainable Solutions Demonstration Sites
4) Six individual emissions baseline reports, one for each demonstration farm, including but not limited:
- Whole-of-farm emissions profile using tools such as the MLA Carbon Calculator and other producer-nominated calculators.
- Emissions intensity metrics (e.g., emissions per kg of meat or wool).
- Soil carbon assessment using South Australian benchmarks based on rainfall and soil type.
- Identification of emissions hotspots and mitigation opportunities.
5) Guidelines on how to conduct an annual update on the farm’s emissions profile to track changes and improvements.
6) Producer-friendly summary documents outlining key findings and next steps
