Cobar Water Reticulation Upgrade – Stage 3
Tender ID: 601533
Tender Details
Tender Description
Cobar is a small town located approximately 275km northwest of Dubbo and approximately 700km from Sydney. The Town has a population of approximately 4,000 people and its primary industries are mining and agriculture. The town has an existing potable water reticulation that consisted primarily of a combination of cast iron and AC pipes with some newer sections or upgrades sections containing short lengths of poly pipe and PVC - M.
The cast iron pipe developed significant build-up of iron on its inner wall, which occasionally begins to dissolve, creating significant dirty (re) water events. The works under Stage 1 and 2 involved laying replacement pipe for the current cast iron lines, followed by the disconnection and decommissioning of the cast iron pipes.
Stage 3 (this stage) will cover works to replace sections of AC pipe that are currently inadequate, the completion of several retic loops to remove dead ends and works to replace failing pipe in other parts of the network. Several sections of the AC pipe are old and deteriorating, creating the need for constant maintenance, while others have been inadequately sized to account for later extensions to the reticulation network.
