Remote Operation Services of Grid Scale BOP 200MW / 400MWh BESS Facilities

Ausgrid is seeking to identify a suitable vendor capable of providing extensive remote services for the operation, commercial trading and optionally other asset management related activities of the Balance of Plant (BoP) and BESS for grid scale BESS that are >100MW which will be owned by a new unregulated entity. Two initial sites under development are to be considered as part of this scope including:

•  Steel River East BESS
•  Located at 1 McIntosh Dv, Mayfield West NSW 2304
•  200MW/400MWh utilising Tesla Megapack 2XL
•  Commercial Operations Date is planned for August 2027
•  Homebush 200MW/400MWh BESS
•  Located at 10 Homebush Bay Drive Homebush NSW 2140 Australia
•  200MW/400MWh utilising Tesla Megapack 2XL
•  Commercial Operations Date is planned for November 2027

The ongoing grid-scale BESS program includes approximately ten additional sites of varying capacities, potentially involving other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), across NSW Central Coast and Hunter regions within the Ausgrid network. All BESS are intended to be registered participants in the National Electricity Market (NEM), connected via a 132kV point of connection at an Ausgrid substation.

The scope of the package will be finalised at the RFP stage. High level requirements include:

•  24/7 Control Room for BoP and BESS operation
•  24/7 Trading Room services for the BESS as required by AEMO
•  Facilitation of auto-bidding software integration
•  AEMO registration services
•  24/7 Security monitoring of the site
•  Asset management and data analytics relevant to AEMO, warranty and commercial obligations compliance
