Tender Description

Kimbriki Environmental Enterprises (KEE) invites suitably qualified consultants to provide quotations for the development of a design for construction and works supervision of the upgrade of an existing leachate containment dam at Kimbriki's Vegetation Processing Area (VPA).

The VPA Dam is approximate 1500m2 in surface area that provides around 2.5ML storage and is used to collect stormwater runoff from the Vegetation Processing Area (VPA). The VPA consists of 5 hectares of bunded land, a mixture of concrete and hardstand surfaces with perimeter drainage, which is used for composting vegetation and processing timber waste. As a result, the stormwater in the dam is impacted by these activities and contains elevated levels of ammonia and organic solids. It is aerated by surface aspirators to improve the water quality whilst stored in the dam then reused in the composting process. Any overflow from this dam is directed to KEE's leachate storage dam elsewhere on site and treated then discharged to sewer.

KEE is seeking an engineering consultant to provide a design and specification for construction to upgrade the existing dam addressing the following requirements:

1. Deepen and/or enlarge the existing leachate dam to allow more capacity

2. Lower the existing perimeter bund, spill way and outlet pipe to eliminate localised flooding

3. Increase the difference in levels between the gravity overflow pipe to KEE's leachate dam and the spillway to reduce the risk of uncontrolled discharges

4. Provide a low point / sump in the dam to allow for maximum water extraction and periodic desilting

5. Replace/augment the existing GCL liner and if required tie it into the existing concrete pavement

6. Any other practical methods that could increase capacity and eliminate the potential for leachate seepage

The successful candidate will also be required to provide works supervision and a construction quality assurance report to confirm the works were constructed in accordance with the design and specification.
