Its gross Regional Product (GRP) is estimated at $7.024 billion, with mining contributing around 47%. Construction (9%) and agriculture, forestry and fishing (6%) are the next largest contributors.
Mining is also the biggest employer in the Mid-West, providing around 15% of the region’s 26,000 jobs. This is closely followed by healthcare and social assistance (13%) and education and training (10%).
