Request for Tender - Annual vegetation monitoring and assessment on Australian grazing properties
Tender ID: 600350
Tender Details
Tender Description
As managers of approximately half the Australian land mass, beef and sheep producers are some of the nation’s most important environmental custodians and are acutely aware of their responsibility to care for our natural assets. To do this, they use best practice grazing management to balance the vegetative requirements of beef production with protecting biodiverse ecosystems.
In recent years, commitments to biodiversity and environmental conservation have emerged from the public and private sectors. Understanding the need to measure and track vegetation on agricultural properties, the Australian Beef Sustainability Framework (ABSF) and Sheep Sustainability Framework (SSF) have developed an evidence-based and practical tool titled the Balance of Tree and Grass Cover (BoTGC). BoTGC is the change in vegetation types associated with beef, sheep or feed production, including losses and gains of forests, woodlands and grasslands.
This project aims to conduct annual monitoring and analysis of forest and woodland changes on Australian grazing properties from 2023 to 2028. It will leverage existing remote sensing data and geospatial analysis to track vegetation changes, with a focus on tree and grass cover balance. An interactive dashboard, similar to the BoTGC dashboard, will be developed to visualize and communicate findings to stakeholders.
