Overview
The Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (EECA), in collaboration with Rewiring Aotearoa, is undertaking a research project to understand the practical roll-out considerations for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology in New Zealand, and sought a supplier to lead delivery of the project.
About
V2G chargers enable electric vehicles (EVs) to both draw electricity from and return electricity to the grid. This research project forms part of EECA's wider distributed flexibility work programme.
Purpose
The V2G charger trial will test the economic, resilience, and integration aspects of using V2G, and help EECA and Rewiring Aotearoa gain a better understanding of how homes and businesses will engage with V2G chargers.
Scope
The scope includes:
- Leading project delivery of the V2G trial in Queenstown (or nearby areas)
- Leading the technical design of the trial, including how data from the chargers will be collected
- Engagement with project partners and other key stakeholders
- Managing the installation process
- Ensuring insights are gained and reported on
