Tender Description
The Shire of Ashburton (Shire, Principal) is seeking submissions from suitably registered, licenced, qualified and experienced Contractor to complete items outlined in the scope of Works for the refurbishment of the Train at the Meeka Train Park, Paraburdoo WA.
SCOPE OF REQUIREMENTS/WORKS
The works are to be completed under one (1) Contract.
The scope of Work and deliverables ae noted on the various drawings and specifications attached to this documents and Pricing schedule. The Shire proposes the following works to include but not limited to
Demolition Works:
• Carefully dismantle and remove three sides of the existing perimeter fencing within the park to allow access to the train
• Remove the section of fencing closest to the roadside to facilitate safe removal of the train from the park
• Dismantle the train structure in a controlled manner, ensuring all components are catalogued for restoration or replacement
• Transport the dismantled train components off-site to the designated restoration facility.
Train Restoration Works:
1. Conduct a full restoration of the train to its original aesthetic and structural condition, including:
- Surface Preparation:
- Sandblast all metal surfaces to remove rust, old paint, and contaminants.
- Structural Repairs
-Replace 44-gallon drum components using pre-existing parts where possible
-Weld and reinforce structural elements as required to ensure safety and durability.
- Seating Restoration:
-Replace existing wooden seating with new jarrah timber boards
-Sand and coat jarrah boards with high-quality, UV-resistant, weatherproof oil.
- Painting
-Apply rust-proof undercoat to all metal surfaces
-Apply two coats of high-quality exterior-grade paint;
-Final colour scheme to be applied using Dulux paints:
• Yellow: Dandelion Yellow – S16H8
• Red: Symphony Red – SB7E8
• Blue: Water Raceway – S35H5
• White: Vivid White – SW1G1
2. Reassemble and reinstall the restored train in its original location within the park, ensuring it is securely fixed and safe for public interaction
Soft Turf Instalment:
1. Procurement:
o Source and supply turf in the agreed-upon colour and material specification suitable for public playground use.
2. Site Preparation:
o Remove existing grass and debris from the designated area (7.70m x 5.00m);
o Level and compact the ground to ensure a smooth and stable base.
3. Installation:
o Install turf to cover the entire designated area beneath and around the train;
o Ensure all edges are securely fixed and transitions are safe for foot traffic.
4. Clean and tidy the area upon completion.
Shade installation:
1. Design and Procurement:
o Source and supply a suitable shade sail or permanent shade structure designed to cover the train area;
o Shade structure must comply with relevant Australian Standards for playgrounds and public spaces.
2. Site Preparation:
o Excavate and prepare footing holes for shade structure poles;
o Install concrete footings to engineer’s specifications.
3. Installation:
o Erect and tension shade sail or install fixed structure as per manufacturer’s guidelines; and
o Ensure all fixings are secure and structure is safe for public use.
4. Final site clean-up and demobilisation from site
