Whitsunday Regional Sports Precinct Stage 1 Design

Airlie Beach and Proserpine growth corridor has evolved from being the relaxed port town for the Whitsunday Islands to the largest township in the Whitsunday Local Government Area (LGA) with over 15,000 residents. The town has grown in population by 38% over the past 10 years making it the third fastest growing suburban region in Australia.

Future residential development is anticipated in the Whitsunday Regional Council (Council) growth corridor, specifically the area between Brandy Creek Qld 4800 to Jubilee Pocket Qld 4802. The majority of the southern portion of the growth corridor is constrained by deficiencies in critical infrastructure network planning including:

a) Stormwater;

b) Roads;

c) Water and sewer networks; and

d) Parks and community facilities.

The Whitsunday Regional Sports Precinct (WRSP) lies central to Council’s growth corridor and identifies as the major centre for the region.

Design Consultancy Services (the Design) are required to deliver stage 1 of the WRSP Master Plan following Council’s successful application for funding (the Project).
